Back to School, Not Backed Up Pipes

Happy September! Here’s your reminder to check your home or commercial space’s pipes for signs of damage before a sudden and potentially expensive issue occurs. Doing so before the first frost is ideal since frozen pipes can cause yet more damage, and a plumber can show you how to winterize your plumbing before it’s cold. Luckily, Z PLUMBERZ offers inspections, cleanings, repair, and replacement for not just pipes, but sewers, water filters, toilets, sinks, other appliances, and hot water!

Why an inspection?

According to the National Association of Home Builders the average home age is 40 years old, however home age varies quite a bit depending on state and region. New York has the oldest home stock with the median home age being 62 years and various southern and western states have home stock below the average 40 years old.  This means that your home’s pipes are likely older, and should be inspected after a few months of little to no usage to ensure that they’re in proper working order, especially if you’ve just moved into a new place! An inspection should not take long and go with a plumber that offers transparent and honest pricing, so you know how much it would cost from the get-go, especially if repairs are needed.

Being proactive rather than reactive, saves money in the long run. Inspections can catch spots in need of repair, leaks, clogs, unseen damage to property due to plumbing, and general condition of your plumbing system.

What can happen if plumbing goes uninspected?

Uninspected plumbing can cause disruptions to home members, customers, staff, and you, especially if there’s a clog or leak in worn systems.

Clogs can cause several issues, primarily in bathrooms or kitchens, where hygiene practices could be comprised worst due to plumbing issues:

  • Pests such as rats and bugs
  • Mold
  • Warped floors and walls

  • Increased water bills

It’s not just leaks and clogs a home or business should worry about, inspected water quality and waste moving are important too, and getting those assessed will give you peace of mind and protect your home and business.
